Batik Bird is based a “batik” type resist-printed drapery, from the late 18th or early 19th century, found in a private château in the Lyon region of France. The novelty creatures hidden within the design are indicative of the Trave rs charm. Hand printed on 100 % linen and processed with a special fashion inspired softening technique renders a wonderful drape-able hand. In keeping with the original document details, the resist print technique allows the off-white structure to be printed first and the other colours applied on top. The resist dyestuff permits the structure to show through thus giving the design its very specific look.
