A Celebration of Closeness, Space and Design

What does closeness mean – between people, within a space, and in design? Under the title CLOSER, Studio Hanne Willmann in Berlin became a place of connection, marking the studio’s tenth anniversary and the opening of its new space.

Together with Studio Hanne Willmann and Freifrau Manufaktur, Zimmer + Rohde was part of a spatial installation that brought textiles, furniture, and people into dialogue.

Closeness became something to experience: spatially, haptically, and sensorially.

 

MATERIALS THAT BRING US CLOSER

Textiles shape the way we experience a space. They create atmosphere, influence light and acoustics, and add a tactile dimension.

For CLOSER, selected Zimmer + Rohde fabrics became part of the installation. Splendid Mohair, Dune, Tone, Infinity Crush, Voile FR and Cordon introduced a variety of colours, textures and tactile qualities, complementing the furniture by Freifrau Manufaktur.

Together, textiles and furniture created an environment that invited guests to touch, linger and connect.

DESIGN AS A PLACE FOR CONNECTION

CLOSER showed what can emerge when different design disciplines come together.

The creative perspective of Hanne Willmann, the textile expertise of Zimmer + Rohde, and the furniture craftsmanship of Freifrau Manufaktur came together to create a shared experience – driven by the idea that design can do more than shape spaces: it can create connection.

Between people and ideas.
Between material and space.
Between objects and those who use them.
